Mazu Networks to Address Institutional Investor's Financial Technology Forum

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (July 26, 2004) - Mazu Networks, a leading provider of behavioral network security solutions, today announced that the Company's CEO and president, Jim Melvin, has been selected to address the Institutional Investor's Annual Financial Technology Forum in New York City. The event, which will be held on July 27-28, 2004 at the Union League Club, brings together CIOs and CISOs of prominent money management firms with experts from the information security industry. The agenda is designed to share knowledge and ideas on the latest security challenges that are impacting money management firms, and on new solutions to those challenges. Mr. Melvin's talk will highlight business and technology trends that are increasing the need for financial services firms to improve internal network security. Melvin will also discuss the latest strategies and technical approaches for combating worms and the growing array of internal threats.

As money management firms increasingly expand access to data and applications for contractors, partners and affiliates, they are also changing the firm's risk profile and making the networks increasingly difficult to secure. At stake is the integrity of these large and complex networks, the availability of their critical applications and services and the safety of their most critical data.

In his presentation entitled, "Secure the Soft Chewy Center: Protecting Internal Networks," Melvin will explore new strategies for addressing this challenge, including the adoption of network profiling and behavioral analysis technologies that detect attacks more accurately, reduce disruption to normal business operations, and enable firms to harden their internal network against future attacks. Melvin will also offer first-hand insights from financial services firms that have used this approach to protect their networks from zero day worms, unauthorized access and other internal threats.
