Mazu Networks Launches Surgical Mitigation System for Profiler™ Line of Network-wide Intrusion Prevention Solutions
Leverages existing network infrastructure to stop worms and insider threats with greater speed and less risk
CSI Show, Washington, D.C. (November 8, 2004) — Mazu Networks, the leading provider of network-wide intrusion prevention systems for enterprise and government organizations, today announced Version 5 of its Profiler solution. This new version introduces the Surgical Mitigation System, which enables organizations to leverage routers and switches to detect and surgically mitigate worms, insider threats, policy violations and other threats to the core network.
Mazu's Surgical Mitigation System, an add-on module to its Profiler product line, is designed to address the specific challenges of mitigating threats inside corporate networks. Its behavioral heuristics can accurately detect and model attacks in real-time, and are not thrown off by new and zero day attacks. Its unique impact simulation enables operators to be confident that the action the system intends to take will not block critical services or processes. And because the solution can leverage routers, switches and probes already deployed in the network, it provides the widest possible coverage with the least amount of incremental cost or labor.

The new software was developed in partnership with Mazu customers and its blade architecture leverages IBM eServer ® BladeCenter™ technology. By leveraging the industry-leading performance and scalability of BladeCenter, Profiler Version 5 is the only solution capable of scaling to meet the needs of larger networks.

Mazu Profiler Version 5 also introduces two additional new features – the Rapid Deployment System and Flexible Network Views. The Rapid Deployment System is a series of features that work in concert to minimize the time, effort and expertise required to derive value from a network-wide intrusion prevention solutions. It includes specific functions that automate or facilitate set-up, rollout, tuning and reporting. Profiler's Rapid Deployment System enables organizations to rollout the solution without hiring additional resources or disrupting existing initiatives.
Profiler's Flexible Network Views feature set enables customization of the interface for different user types and provides even deeper querying, reporting and auditing functions that are critical for troubleshooting, forensics, and regulatory compliance. Profiler's Flexible Network Views is the only query engine that can handle virtually any query of network activity at any level – from global to very specific and with both current and historical data. In addition, Profiler has the most flexible tools for creating custom reports. Finally, Profiler can audit how sensitive assets in the network are used and by whom, providing critical reports for demonstrating regulatory compliance.
In addition to these new features, Mazu Profiler continues to deliver enterprise-class network-wide intrusion prevention. It is the only solution with Adaptive Profiling, which automatically keeps the system updated, enabling it to achieve and maintain the highest accuracy in threat detection.
