Cambridge, Mass. (May 17, 2005) — Mazu Networks, Inc., the leading provider of behavior-based, network security solutions for enterprises, today announced that the Boston Business Journal named the company one of the Best Places to Work in Massachusetts. In its third year, the Boston Business Journal Best Places to Work ranking recognizes corporate achievements in creating positive work environments that attract and retain employees through a combination of employee satisfaction, working conditions and company culture.
Mazu Networks made the top 20 list for the company's size category; selected from more than 240 qualifying companies. The Boston Business Journal commissioned an employee-satisfaction survey that was conducted throughout the spring of 2005. The positive responses from Mazu Networks employees sealed the company's top ranking on the list.
"Mazu Networks continually strives to provide a positive work environment that promotes creative thinking and problem solving, strong team relationships as well as encourages employees to strike a healthy balance between the office and home," said Paul Brady, president and COO, Mazu Networks. "We understand that the success of Mazu Networks is directly attributed to the strength of our team. Therefore, Mazu Networks focuses on employing the best people in the industry and providing them with the work environment they need to thrive. Being acknowledged by our employees through this award is a great accomplishment for Mazu Networks and a testament to the strong company culture that is fostered by each individual at every level of the organization."
"For the third year in a row, our results validate how the creation of the right corporate culture can create powerful business advantages," said George Donnelly, editor, Boston Business Journal. "Employees are proud to work for companies that are about more than just business."
The top 20 companies in three size categories - small (20-100 employees), midsize (101-500 employees) and large (more than 500 employees) - will be profiled in a special supplement of the Boston Business Journal issued on June 24.
A countdown celebration breakfast will be held on June 22 to announce the final rankings - including the top company in each category. Additional event information can be found online at http://events.bizjournals.com/1506.
The survey project itself was launched in January by the Boston Business Journal in conjunction with market research firm QMR Inc. of Wichita, Kan. Thousands of Massachusetts companies were contacted by e-mail and fax announcements, phone calls, as well as advertisements in the paper and on the Boston Business Journal's Web site.
Companies were evaluated on the results of more than 18,000 employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questionnaires that addressed such factors as: their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement, and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.
"Accommodating employees' personal needs pays back dividends of loyalty and productivity," said Boston Business Journal publisher Mike Olivieri. "The companies on our list recognize that their commitment to employees is especially important as the economy strengthens and competition for talent continues to grow. The Best Places to Work are all winners because they acknowledged that the care of their employees is instrumental in maintaining the quality and reputation for services and products."
