Former VeriSign CSO Joins Mazu Networks as Chief Security Strategist

Charles Kaplan to Lend Extensive Market Experience to Further Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Customer Support Initiatives


CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - January 31, 2006 - Mazu Networks, Inc., the leading provider of behavior-based network security solutions, today announced Charles Kaplan as chief security strategist. In his role, Kaplan will help guide the company's vision, strategy and innovation through his involvement in engineering, sales, marketing and customer support initiatives.

Previous to Mazu Networks, Kaplan was the chief information security officer for VeriSign Managed Security Services (MSS), where he provided subject matter expertise and direction internally as well as customer facing security guidance to the company's top MSS clients. Kaplan also served as an extension to the IT teams of many Future 1000 enterprises, helping them develop long term information security strategies. Prior to his position with VeriSign, Kaplan also founded several successful companies including: Cenetrix, norSEC, Xevo and Ingress Consulting.
