Charles Kaplan, chief security strategist, Mazu Networks
As chief security strategist at Mazu Networks, Charles Kaplan provides strategic guidance and support for the company’s engineering, marketing and sales teams. Drawing from 15 years of information security experience, Kaplan has participated in the development of security programs at more than 1,000 companies and is a recognized expert at architecting, implementing, maintaining and managing effective and balanced security programs.
Previously, Kaplan was the chief information security officer for VeriSign Managed Security Services (MSS), where he served as a thought leader, strategist and evangelist for the organization. In his role, Kaplan provided subject matter expertise and direction internally as well as customer facing security guidance to the company’s top MSS clients. Kaplan has served as an extension to the IT teams of many Future 1000 enterprises, helping them to develop long term information security strategies.
Kaplan has also founded several successful companies including: Cenetrix, developers of network threat prevention systems; norSEC, a highly successful pioneer in the now established Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) space; and Xevo, a fast-growing Internet software company devoted to the Application Service Provider industry.
As a recognized thought leader in the security space, Kaplan has been frequently quoted in the press on a range of security topics. Evan Tegethoff , Compliance Services Manager, Accuvant
Evan Tegethoff serves as Accuvant’s Compliance Services Manager and oversees the design and delivery of all service offerings associated with Accuvant's compliance practice. His experience includes helping organizations develop comprehensive programs that address their information security compliance be it regulatory, partner, internal audit, or from consumers demanding stronger programs to protect their personal information. Tegethoff’s background includes mapping security requirements to regulations, policy design, policy review, and enterprise risk management.
Tegethoff has been in the field of information security since 1995. Tegethoff also served as National Practice Manager of Strategic Security Solutions for Forsythe Solutions Group, where he was responsible for information security compliance and policy services. In addition to project and people management, his experience includes network security architecture, security integration management and enterprise security consulting.
Specific areas of information security expertise include regulatory compliance, security program development, and information security policy. Mr. Tegethoff has spoken at a number of information security events and conferences and has published numerous articles in industry publications.
