Mazu Networks Announces Integration of Mazu Profiler™ with Symantec Security Information Manager

Integration Indicates the Growing Market Demand for Combined SIM and NBA Functionality

GARTNER IT SECURITY SUMMIT, WASHINGTON, D.C. and CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - June 5, 2006 - Mazu Networks, the leading provider of Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) systems, today announced the certification of Mazu Profiler™ with Symantec Security Information Manager through its participation in the Symantec Technology Enabled Program. Mazu Profiler provides real-time, enterprise-wide visibility and control over internal technology assets and critical business applications. The integration of the market’s leading NBA and security information management (SIM) products will provide enterprises with greater intelligence, which will dramatically improve their ability to respond to and protect against security threats.

Symantec developed a collector specifically for Mazu Profiler that allows Symantec Security Information Manager to gather security data from Mazu Networks’ enterprise-class NBA system. Symantec Security Information Manager correlates security events in real-time across disparate security technologies such as Mazu Profiler to identify, prioritize and coordinate the resolution of security incidents. Security Information Manager provides a global view of security threats. When combined with Mazu Profiler, customers gain coverage of the entire internal network, context to understand how risks affect their applications and the ability to respond to threats using the network infrastructure.

"The integration of Mazu Profiler and Symantec Security Information Manager creates a powerful security solution that allows enterprises to quickly identify and respond to threats before they can have an adverse affect on the organization," said Raja Srinivasan, senior manager, Symantec Technology Enabled Program. "Not only do customers gain more network intelligence, they gain a systematic way of dealing with critical network issues."

"Unlike other security technologies that are based on agents or scanning, Mazu Profiler monitors network traffic, thereby providing visibility into the typical behavior of applications, systems and users and identifying risks and threats through real-time behavior and policy analysis," said Joe Gately, vice president, North American sales and alliances, Mazu Networks. "Further, because Mazu Profiler is flow-based, it is complementary to many existing Symantec security solutions that address similar needs. Bringing together the different views these technologies provide will enable enterprises to gain a more complete and valuable understanding of their enterprise IT environment."
