Mazu Networks Leads Expansion of NBA Solutions to the Network Operations Market While Continuing to Provide Unmatched Benefits for Security Teams

Company Builds Market Leadership Position and Posts Record Revenue Growth During 2006

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - January 23, 2007 - Mazu Networks, the leading(1) provider of Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) systems, today announced that in 2006 the company led the expansion of NBA from solely a security solution to a product that also offers substantial benefits to network operations teams. Mazu Networks posted record revenues for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2006 and was named a leader by the Yankee Group, while also receiving significant validation by other key industry influencers during the year.

Mazu Networks provides continuous global visibility into how users, applications, hosts and devices are behaving on a network, and detects if there are meaningful changes from their typical behavior that indicate a network performance issue, a security threat or an application problem. This intelligence enables network teams to optimize infrastructure to support business operations, while also allowing security teams to protect critical services, data and intellectual property.

"As the first to market with an NBA solution, Mazu Networks continues to out-innovate and out-perform our competition. A key contributing factor to our ability to stay on top is our close relationships with our customers," said Paul Brady, CEO, Mazu Networks. "In the last year, these relationships enabled us to identify growing demand for our product from the network operations teams in addition to our traditional security play, which gave Mazu Networks yet another step up on the competition and reinforced our position as the NBA market leader."

Mazu Networks' customers represent leaders in a broad range of industry sectors, including financial services, media and entertainment, consumer goods and higher education. Strong demand for Mazu in these sectors from both network operations and security groups led to record sales in 2006, doubling the company's 2005 revenues.

"Mazu Networks' strong performance during 2006 indicates that it was a breakout year for the company and the NBA market as a whole," said Larry Christofori, CFO, Mazu Networks. "Record revenue and our market leadership position, among other company achievements, will prove to be a springboard for significant and continued success in 2007."

Key achievements in 2006 include:

  • Doubled revenue growth from 2005 to 2006.
  • Won deals with key customers in the financial services, media and entertainment, consumer goods, heath care and higher education sectors, growing its customer base by more than 60 percent.
  • Realized strong growth in repeat business, now amounting to more than 25 percent of sales.
  • Executed strategic technology alliances with IBM Tivoli, Packeteer, 3COM/TippingPoint and channel partnerships with Forsythe, Accuvant, Akibia, Allstream, ACR, Future Com, IGX Global, SiegeWorks and VANDIS, among others.
  • More than two-thirds of new business came through channel partners.
  • Launched the seventh generation of Mazu Networks’ NBA product line, which addresses challenges specific to both network and security operations groups.
