Mazu Networks Chief Security Strategist to Discuss Network Behavior Analysis at TRISC 2007

What:

Kaplan will give two presentations during the third annual Texas Regional Infrastructure Security Conference (TRISC). His first presentation, titled "Network Behavior Analysis Systems: The New Foundation of Defense-in-Depth," will discuss the increasing demand for a defense-in-depth security architecture that provides protection beyond the perimeter and endpoints. The presentation will also highlight how NBA systems provide continuous global visibility into an organization’s network to optimize network infrastructures to support business operations and protect critical internal assets.

Kaplan's second presentation, titled "Network Behavior Analysis Systems: Closing the Compliance Gap," will discuss the current network landscape of IT environments and the difficulties organizations undertake when facing compliance regulations. Attendees will learn how NBA systems help organizations establish and enforce policies to reduce the cost of compliance in addition to securing their internal networks.

Speaker Biography:

Charles Kaplan, Chief Security Strategist
As chief security strategist at Mazu Networks, Charles Kaplan provides strategic guidance and support for the company’s engineering, marketing and sales teams. Drawing from 15 years of information security experience, and participation in developing the security programs at more than 1,000 companies, Kaplan is a recognized expert at architecting, implementing, maintaining and managing effective and balanced security programs.

Previously, Kaplan was the chief information security officer for VeriSign Managed Security Services (MSS), where he served as a thought leader, strategist and evangelist for the organization. Prior to joining VeriSign, Kaplan founded and led norSEC, a highly successful pioneer in the now established Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) space. Kaplan also co-founded and served as CTO for Xevo, a fast-growing Internet software company devoted to the Application Service Provider industry, and co-founded and served as lead consultant at Ingress where he serviced numerous Fortune firms and government agencies, including DuPont, Marconi, Prudential Securities, The Bureau of Prisons, and The Department of Health and Human Services.

Kaplan has been frequently quoted in the press and has been a noted speaker for numerous events and audiences, including IS Associates, Community Jewish Philanthropists, TechTarget, UNIX Expo, Internet Expo, Internet World, the Pentagon, the FBI and universities. He also served as a content editor for O’Reilly & Associates, and had work published by IDG books.
